Take Home Preparations
Getting ready for your new puppy is exciting! We’ve put together a list of our recommended supplies, products, and essentials to help make your puppy’s transition into your home as smooth as possible.
Food & Feeding
Our puppies are currently eating Life’s Abundance All Life Stage Dog Food, and we highly recommend continuing this food to help ensure a smooth transition to their new home. If you choose to switch foods, we recommend doing so gradually over 7–10 days to help prevent digestive upset.
Treats
Crate & Potty Training
A crate provides your puppy with a safe, comfortable space while helping establish healthy crate and potty-training habits. Your puppy will begin learning the foundation of crate training before coming home, and continuing a consistent routine will help make the transition smoother.
We recommend:
Small blanket or towel for the bottom of the crate
During the potty-training stage, we recommend keeping the crate simple and easy to clean. A towel or small blanket that can be removed, washed, and replaced as needed works well. We do not recommend using a large, fluffy bed right away, as it can make accidents more difficult to clean and some puppies may chew or ingest stuffing while exploring their new environment.
Health & Wellness
Your puppy will receive their first 5-in-1 puppy vaccination, which protects against:
Parvovirus
Canine Distemper
Adenovirus Type 2
Parainfluenza
Your puppy’s vaccination record will come home with you.
Continued safe socialization is important while your puppy is young. We recommend introducing your puppy to new experiences, people, and only healthy, vaccinated dogs you know. Avoid high-risk areas such as dog parks, pet stores, and places with unknown dog traffic until your veterinarian recommends it is safe. Your puppy will need additional vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian, typically given every 3–4 weeks, with rabies given according to your veterinarian’s schedule.
Deworming + Parasite Management
Your puppy will be dewormed on a schedule before going home. We recommend continuing deworming every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age, or as directed by your veterinarian. Parasites are common in puppies, so we recommend working with your veterinarian to create a preventative care plan for your puppy, including deworming and flea/tick prevention. Help reduce your puppy’s risk by preventing access to feces, keeping food and water bowls clean, and practicing good hygiene.

Grooming Supplies
Regular grooming is an important part of keeping your puppy’s coat healthy and comfortable. We recommend starting a grooming routine early to help your puppy become comfortable with brushing, bathing, nail trims, and handling.
