Welcome to the Guardian Program

Broadway Poodles & Doodles, offers a ‘Guardian Program’ for our breeding dogs. We want to ensure all our dogs are living the best possible life, with local, loving families in our community. We believe that offering a guardian program is a win-win for both parties, as well as our poodles & doodles!

Guardian homes will receive a puppy/dog all while Broadway Poodles & Doodles retains breeding rights. The guardian families are expected to properly care for their new puppy/dog, both physically and financially. Broadway Poodles & Doodles will cover all costs related to breeding and care for/own all litters produced by guardian family dogs. Basically, you get the desired pick of the litter to add to your family, while we get to use him/her in our breeding program. The dog will remain your forever family pet, but will use the dog every so often to sire/whelp their litters.

Once your dog is ready to breed, on her second heat cycle, we will arrange during her heat cycle to breed her. Thirty days after breeding we will ultrasound her to confirm she is pregnant. A week before her expected due date, we will bring her to our home to whelp her litter. She will spend 6-8 weeks in our care to whelp, raise, and wean the puppies. During this time, guardian families are always welcome to arrange a time to visit. Guardian families must be able to detect a heat cycle as well as keep females away from intact male dogs at all times. We retire females between the ages of 4-6, after having 3-4 litters. Once the female dog has retired, we will spay her, and she will continue to live the rest of her life with her guardian family.

Male Guardian Dog:

Once your dog has matured and has passed health testing, he is ready to breed. We will arrange a few days when needed for breeding. Guardian families must be able to keep males away from intact females that are in heat at all times. Males will retire around the age of 5-7. Once retired, the male will be neutered and will continue to live the rest of his life with his guardian family.
